BMFA North Eastern Area.
Following the February 2026 BMFA NE Area meeting where a discussion about renewing the Area’s licence to use Albemarle Barracks took place the delegates present unanimously decided to bring to an end over sixty years of use of the airfield. Unfortunately declining numbers of clubs and members booking the site for area events, coupled with a massive increase in the cost of renewing the licence (more than double the 2025 fee) mean that the venue is no longer financially viable. However all is not lost, SW Model Flyers hold their own licence to fly at Albemarle and have kindly invited any BMFA members that want to fly at Albemarle to join them at one of their events.
